FEBC Saipan to close by year end

From Andy Sennitt :
Far East Broadcasting Co, a non-profit, non-denominational missionary organization that broadcasts to many parts of Asia, will decommission its shortwave station on Saipan by the end of the year, after 27 years of broadcasting on the island. Bob Springer, FEBC General Manager, attributed the decision to government deregulation and advances in communications technology that he said have significantly reduced the demand for shortwave broadcasting.

Why Axe Trincomalee?

Written by Victor Goonetilleke
From my experience of Short Wave broadcasting for more than 40 years I have always found that it is better to get a signal from one or two hops away than dealing with a ground wave, especially when a station not far away and close to skip disances. Sines in Portugal is a very good example. This DW relay station was meant to reach the East European countries, which are at about. 2 hop distance. Also RFE’s stations to E.Europe from Portugal and Spain. Please read the full article here.

New A11 Summer schedule

Due to some technical difficulties it was not possible to update the site in time. We do hope to update the A11 schedule as early as possible.

In this new A11 schedule period there are many stations who have dropped their services or reduced their transmission to South Asia. Some stations uses local FM stations to relay their broadcast.
