R.Veritas changes

Due to cochannel interference from Romania, Radio Veritas Asia is changing evening frequency for South Asia in Hindi at 1330-1400 and Bengali at 1400-1427 hrs effective 27th January 2013. The new freq is 11915 kHz replacing 11870 kHz and is valid till 30th March 2013.

Also Morning Tamil service is also moving to 11855 kHz replacing 11935kHz(due to cochannel interference from CRI) at 0030-0057 hrs from the same day.

BBC Hindi Morning

According to BBC Hindi service announcements they are going to re-start their morning service at 0100-0130 hrs as from 27th March. May be they'll b'cast the evening transmission for 30min instead of 60min as at the moment.

BBC Hindi on 9395

Due to interference on 9685 kHz(AIR on 9690 kHz at 1330-1500) BBC Hindi is now using 9395 kHz (from Thailand)1400-1500 UTC since 23rd May and continues 9685 kHz from Oman. It was a dual transmission from Thailand and Oman on 9685 kHz , now it has been b'casting on 2 different frequencies - 9395(THA) and 9685(OMA).

Vatican Radio - New Freq 11730

From 1st May 2011 Vatican Radio is using 11730 kHz (via Tashkent) replacing 9580 kHz at 0040-0200 hrs (Mon,Thu from 0025) parallel to 7335 kHz(via SMG) in Hindi,Tamil,Malayalam and English.

No additional BBC Hindi service on SW for now

According to Andy Sennitt in Media Network BBC World Service has no immediate plans to resume the three Hindi shortwave transmissions that have been added to the HFCC transmission schedule with an indicated start date of 1 May 2011. These are so-called ‘wooden’ entries which may be used in the future if additional funding can be found, but at the moment the 1400-1500 UTC transmission is the only one on the air.

New Freq for RVA Sinhala Hindi

Due to cochannel and/or side channel splash Radio Veritas Asia is changing their frequencies effective Sunday 22nd November 2010. These are :
Sinhala 0000-0027 9720 kHz (ex-9865) in parallel to 11730 kHz.
Hindi 0030-0057 11730 kHz (ex-11710 kHz).
Chin 0130-0157 15255 kHz (ex-15520 kHz).

NHK Hindi on 11825 kHz

Starting 14 June 2010 Radio Japan(NHK) is using 11825 kHz in Hindi at 1345-1430 hrs from Tashkent. Reception is very good till 1400 hrs and then slight interference noted from BBC Arabic on 11820 kHz from Cyprus.

News from SLBC

SLBC's Korean Service on 15120 1030-1130 via DW Trinco will cease
temporarily from the 4th of June. SLBC instead starts another hour
of Hindi to India on 11905 kHz via Trinco 355 beam with 200kW
1530-1630 UTC.

Reception reports will be welcome to Engineer AM Services, Sri Lanka
Broadcasting Corporation, P.O.Box 574 Colombo. SLBC in association
with the Union of Asian DXers will QSL all reports on all its SW
broadcasts during June. If the project is successful we will extend
it.

SLBC is also progressing with the installation of a 50kW MW
transmitter in Puttalam on 1125 kHz to beam to South India where
there are large numbers of Sri Lankans who fled the war over the last
30 years, and also to strengthen the coverage to the North of Sri
Lanka.
