Vatican Radio drops Urdu service

With effect from 4th September Vatican Radio is closing down its Urdu language broadcast. The following transmissions will no longer be broadcast :

R.Veritas New Freqs from 15 May

In order to improve reception the following changes are effective 15th May 2011 for Radio Veritas Asia :

Sinhala 0000-0027 9720 kHz -> 9670 kHz
Bengali 0030-0057 11945 kHz -> 11710 kHz
Urdu 1430-1457 15435 kHz -> 15260 kHz via Vatican R.
Chin 1430-1500 9620 kHz -> 9535 kHz

Also Filipino to ME 1500-1553 kHz on 15280 kHz(replacing 15350 kHz via Vatican R.

New time for BBC Evening Urdu

With effect from 1st April BBC Urdu is to merge the 2 half hour b'cast (at 1500-1530 & 1600-1630) into one hour slot at 1500-1600 hrs and can be heard on 1413 7435(till 1545) 9510 11740 15470 KHz. This 2 half hour b'cast was introduced following the introduction of Daylight Saving Time in Bangladesh and to accommodate BBC Bengali at 1530-1600 hrs during DST in Bangladesh.
